Live action Portal Fan Film

This is pretty amazing. It has a score by the composer for Inception and stars Danielle Rayne as a Chell-type character. I'll preface it by saying it was about a year and a half in the making, so if you've played Portal 2, you'll find yourself saying things like "that's not a portalable surface at all!", "the portal gun is not nor has never been one handed!" and other things to poke holes in the logic/awesomeness of this short. And by that I mean that's what I did.

Wait, I thought there were two contributors...

Greetings, embittered people!

My posts will start back up this Thursday! (...probably...) Evidently, they don't have wi-fi in Mordor. BOY its been a busy month. Starting Thursday, I'll share some guilty pleasures with you (get yer mind outta the gutter!) and things will get just a bit musical for a while.

For now, I present my future wife, photographed by the Hobbits over in the GeeksAreSexy.com shire...Now, THAT'S thinking with portals!

Once again, a Roundup.

Or: Felix is too lazy/drunk to write her own posts.

Behold!

Ten awesome fantasy series that are not Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, though I think they're missing a lot.

Watch this shit. It is hilarious.

Some dinosaur superheroes, because that is awesome:

My little Pony: Friendship is magic cosplay (or, the best cosplay ever)
Truth?
My favorite thing:
I should have bought this t-shirt.
Steampunk companion cube. Sure, why not.

Character Creation.

Is hard.

Okay, guys. I've played some D&D in my day, I've created characters for a whole lot of different games. Know what game's character creation is kicking my asterisk dollar sign dollar sign?

Here's a hint.

Okay, FINE that wasn't a good hint.

Better?? FINE.

Remember how I played Hero Quest with some cool boys recently? The one who is a little too into character decided that we're going to play Shadowrun via Skype. True Life: I Am A Nerd. You can catch my episode on MTV soon.

I've been spending a ridiculous amount of time trying to create my two characters for this campaign, and oh my cthulhu is it hard. Pause.

Anyhoo, I thought I'd utilize 8-Bit Runway as my own personal complain-o-sphere for a moment. Why? Because no one, your momma, shut up! Take your pick.

In case you are unfamiliar with Shadowrun, join the club! Because so am I still, despite the fact that I've read the core book cover to cover at least three times. I am clear on the fact that it's a pen-and-paper role playing game. And that's about all I know. According to one of the covers, Shadowrun is a WKGames™ and FANPRO game... okay, that's not the helpful cover."THE SHADOWS HAVE EVOLVED. The year is 2070"( shit, that's just 7 years before the great war! I should probably make sure my characters invest in a vault spot.)" The world is not only Awakened-it's wired. Cyber and bioware implants make your meat body better-than-flesh, while the wireless Matrix™" (yes, the first edition of this game came out way before the movie) "enhances your perceptions with hyper-real senses. Deals are made in steel and lead more often than gold or nuyen; success and failure live only a razor's edge apart."

It's a very cool game concept. According to the wikipedia site, "
the original game has spawned a franchise with a card game, two miniature-based wargames, multiple video games, a series of novels, and music." Which just makes me think I need to find the music this game spawned. My guess is it's dubstep.

Seriously.

When I make a character, I delve in. Seriously. I spent three hours on a totally legit name research site on names alone. I spent another five trying to find the prefect pictures to represent them. Once again, my MTV special will be airing soon [not really]. Worth it.

Nerd for costumes. Or: I forgot I was the one writing this and thought Lulu was making fun of me.

That's right. And true.

GREETINGS FELLOW NERDS. As we've previously (seriously, click that link, I spent a long time on it) discussed, we are nerds about some weird things.

I am a nerd about costumes. For realzies. Yeah, I said it.

Anyways, I found what we in the industry call "renderings" of the Disney princesses in accurately period costumes. Enjoy!

The "oh crap I haven't done a round-up yet" roundup.

Greetings fellow humanoids!

This roundup is coming to you late because... no, you know what, I don't need to justify myself to you people. It's late.

Now, for a roundup.

Learn how to Pimp your Ramen. Seriously.

Read a blog about the fashion of Doctor Who, specifically where you can buy things!

Here is a pretty awesome article from Cracked about things from space.

I WILL LOVE WHO EVER BUYS THESE FOR ME FOREVER.

These shoes are pretty awesome.

My new favorite Penny Arcade comic (which belongs to them, not me).

Okay, yeah, it's also a SHORT roundup. And you know what?

80's Action Movies Re-made with Female Stars!?!?

Greetings, lazy people!

Found this little gem that was posted by our frenemies (oh WOW, that top looks nice on you, it really helps hide how fat you are...) over at TelevisionWithoutPity.com; this is a gallery showing some 80's action movies, proposed to be remade with female leads! My favorite is the pairing of Bloodsport and Yvonne Strahovski (a la Chuck fame).

Not a bad idea; check it out!

Speaking of awesome, this is 8-bit's 100th post! Hooray for us! Possible celebrations to come!

The "we're totally doing regular roundups again" Roundup

I know, I know. this is your favorite thing in the world.

By this, I mean my roundups.

Seriously. Since I have so much free time now, I've been stumbling again.

Truth. Here are some awesome things I found while doing that stupid thing.

Okay, my first favorite thing is findnewjams, a site that hosts thousands of songs you can listen to for free. I've found a whole lot of new music via this site in just a few days.

Next, a tool for our LuLu who is being... well, a big ol' "Debby Downer" who will hopefully stop complaining soon, because, LOOK, finally she can listen to my heartbeat from thousands of miles away via a light-up pillow. True story.

Oh, look at this, McDonald's is humorous.

Finally, my new favorite way to find things to cook, Tyler Capp's cooking comically, which makes me want to make everything all the time.

I don't think I need to explain myself.

Now, pictures!

Also, no, I am NOT cutting these anymore. Why? Because FUCK YOU, that's why.

This is why we only trust Maxium about boobs.

When I grow up, I'd like to be her.

Amazingly adorable.

...seriously?

Lulu and I will soon show you our equally geeky tattoos- who am I kidding, this is the best ever.

If you are so inclined, you can buy this here

Are you a girl? You know this is true.

Are you human? You know why I posted this.

Don't worry...

I found this tool for Lulu. I though you might also enjoy!

Man-flavored Eye Candy

So, as we get further and further into autumn, I am reminded how nice it is to have someone to snuggle up with on cold nights. Since I lack that most of the time now and will lack it 100% of the time coming up here real quick, I turn to you: the internet.

[Studio audience: Jesus Crispies, are all of your posts going to be this depressing after your main squeeze leaves?!?!?]

Yes. As a matter of fact, in an episode of weird single behavior, my new roommate and I skipped down to our local Dairy Queen (A block away. Bad idea.) and bought an entire ice cream cake for ourselves...and ate 75% of it in four days. Half-off Tuesday Cakes will be the death of us both.

But anyway, I digress.

Without further ado, with a post shamelessly stolen from the well-meaning folks at Buzzfeed.com, some man-candy for you to look at in classic pin-up poses.

Sigh.

More at the source.

Until next time, behave yourselves! For god sakes....

RIP

Submitted without comment. RIP.

Where in the world is Lulu [San Diego]?!?

Greetings, missing people!

I've been ripped away from the world of the internet [forcibly] by moving into my new bat-cave. Fear not, though, for I am not dead.

For your viewing pleasure, some pleasure for viewing:

Unquestionably, the droid I was looking for.

What is a Roundup!?

This week, it's all about the best things.

Clearly, this is the best ThunderCats cosplay ever.

Just as this is the best Archer cosplay. EVER.

This is because ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT IS COMING BACK.

This is the best ad ever.

This I just thought you should have.

Just a quick little share. There's a lot of news this week. The nation is finally aware of #occupywallstreet (for more information, follow here). Casting has started for the children stars of the alleged upcoming Ender's Game movie (don't worry, I'll have a WHOLE lot to say about that soon). Really, though, the only important bit of news is this:

ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT IS BACK.
Now we have an answer to one of our obnoxious tags.

Some kind of tutorial

For all you LADIES that read this, you may be wondering how good ol' Felix made that awesome Fallout 3 Bra. Right? You remember, this one?

Well, GOOD NEWS!

I'ma show you.

Only with a shirt I made as part of the plan Lulu and I have to seduce and capture the boys over at Penny Arcade.

It looks like this:

And the tutorial is after the jump.
