Character Creation.

Is hard.

Okay, guys. I've played some D&D in my day, I've created characters for a whole lot of different games. Know what game's character creation is kicking my asterisk dollar sign dollar sign?

Here's a hint.

Okay, FINE that wasn't a good hint.

Better?? FINE.

Remember how I played Hero Quest with some cool boys recently? The one who is a little too into character decided that we're going to play Shadowrun via Skype. True Life: I Am A Nerd. You can catch my episode on MTV soon.

I've been spending a ridiculous amount of time trying to create my two characters for this campaign, and oh my cthulhu is it hard. Pause.

Anyhoo, I thought I'd utilize 8-Bit Runway as my own personal complain-o-sphere for a moment. Why? Because no one, your momma, shut up! Take your pick.

In case you are unfamiliar with Shadowrun, join the club! Because so am I still, despite the fact that I've read the core book cover to cover at least three times. I am clear on the fact that it's a pen-and-paper role playing game. And that's about all I know. According to one of the covers, Shadowrun is a WKGames™ and FANPRO game... okay, that's not the helpful cover."THE SHADOWS HAVE EVOLVED. The year is 2070"( shit, that's just 7 years before the great war! I should probably make sure my characters invest in a vault spot.)" The world is not only Awakened-it's wired. Cyber and bioware implants make your meat body better-than-flesh, while the wireless Matrix™" (yes, the first edition of this game came out way before the movie) "enhances your perceptions with hyper-real senses. Deals are made in steel and lead more often than gold or nuyen; success and failure live only a razor's edge apart."

It's a very cool game concept. According to the wikipedia site, "
the original game has spawned a franchise with a card game, two miniature-based wargames, multiple video games, a series of novels, and music." Which just makes me think I need to find the music this game spawned. My guess is it's dubstep.

Seriously.

When I make a character, I delve in. Seriously. I spent three hours on a totally legit name research site on names alone. I spent another five trying to find the prefect pictures to represent them. Once again, my MTV special will be airing soon [not really]. Worth it.
