Felix's Rebuttal

In case anyone is wondering:

And, if you're wondering, yes, this is me:

My musical chronology!

Greetings, nostalgic people!

To begin a series of music-themed posts, I'd like to start with a little bit of personal humiliation. Why, you might ask?

A) This is the internet, the world of humiliation
B) I'm hoping that everyone will immediately forget the random disappearance for a month
C) Music is the language of the soul, or some bullshit
D) All of the above

(Yes, you may use a calculator)

Additionally, Felix and I are somewhat mysterious, and this will offer at least some insight. One of the most important aspects of being a (total fucking) geek is an unhealthy dose of nostalgia and obsession; mix that with some introspection, and you have what lies waiting under the cut. Besides, I think its healthy to look back on your younger years. And weep.

Live action Portal Fan Film

This is pretty amazing. It has a score by the composer for Inception and stars Danielle Rayne as a Chell-type character. I'll preface it by saying it was about a year and a half in the making, so if you've played Portal 2, you'll find yourself saying things like "that's not a portalable surface at all!", "the portal gun is not nor has never been one handed!" and other things to poke holes in the logic/awesomeness of this short. And by that I mean that's what I did.

Wait, I thought there were two contributors...

Greetings, embittered people!

My posts will start back up this Thursday! (...probably...) Evidently, they don't have wi-fi in Mordor. BOY its been a busy month. Starting Thursday, I'll share some guilty pleasures with you (get yer mind outta the gutter!) and things will get just a bit musical for a while.

For now, I present my future wife, photographed by the Hobbits over in the GeeksAreSexy.com shire...Now, THAT'S thinking with portals!

Once again, a Roundup.

Or: Felix is too lazy/drunk to write her own posts.

Behold!

Ten awesome fantasy series that are not Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, though I think they're missing a lot.

Watch this shit. It is hilarious.

Some dinosaur superheroes, because that is awesome:

My little Pony: Friendship is magic cosplay (or, the best cosplay ever)
Truth?
My favorite thing:
I should have bought this t-shirt.
Steampunk companion cube. Sure, why not.

Character Creation.

Is hard.

Okay, guys. I've played some D&D in my day, I've created characters for a whole lot of different games. Know what game's character creation is kicking my asterisk dollar sign dollar sign?

Here's a hint.

Okay, FINE that wasn't a good hint.

Better?? FINE.

Remember how I played Hero Quest with some cool boys recently? The one who is a little too into character decided that we're going to play Shadowrun via Skype. True Life: I Am A Nerd. You can catch my episode on MTV soon.

I've been spending a ridiculous amount of time trying to create my two characters for this campaign, and oh my cthulhu is it hard. Pause.

Anyhoo, I thought I'd utilize 8-Bit Runway as my own personal complain-o-sphere for a moment. Why? Because no one, your momma, shut up! Take your pick.

In case you are unfamiliar with Shadowrun, join the club! Because so am I still, despite the fact that I've read the core book cover to cover at least three times. I am clear on the fact that it's a pen-and-paper role playing game. And that's about all I know. According to one of the covers, Shadowrun is a WKGames™ and FANPRO game... okay, that's not the helpful cover."THE SHADOWS HAVE EVOLVED. The year is 2070"( shit, that's just 7 years before the great war! I should probably make sure my characters invest in a vault spot.)" The world is not only Awakened-it's wired. Cyber and bioware implants make your meat body better-than-flesh, while the wireless Matrix™" (yes, the first edition of this game came out way before the movie) "enhances your perceptions with hyper-real senses. Deals are made in steel and lead more often than gold or nuyen; success and failure live only a razor's edge apart."

It's a very cool game concept. According to the wikipedia site, "
the original game has spawned a franchise with a card game, two miniature-based wargames, multiple video games, a series of novels, and music." Which just makes me think I need to find the music this game spawned. My guess is it's dubstep.

Seriously.

When I make a character, I delve in. Seriously. I spent three hours on a totally legit name research site on names alone. I spent another five trying to find the prefect pictures to represent them. Once again, my MTV special will be airing soon [not really]. Worth it.

Nerd for costumes. Or: I forgot I was the one writing this and thought Lulu was making fun of me.

That's right. And true.

GREETINGS FELLOW NERDS. As we've previously (seriously, click that link, I spent a long time on it) discussed, we are nerds about some weird things.

I am a nerd about costumes. For realzies. Yeah, I said it.

Anyways, I found what we in the industry call "renderings" of the Disney princesses in accurately period costumes. Enjoy!
